Every City Has Its Own Story
Explore the theme before choosing an individual place.
Cities are more than stops
Serbia’s regional centres are spread across very different landscapes: Novi Sad and Subotica belong to the Vojvodina plain; Niš and Pirot open the south and southeast; Kraljevo and Čačak connect river valleys with monasteries and mountains. The same city itinerary does not fit them all.
What to discover
Look for civic architecture, museums, sacred buildings, food traditions and the everyday rhythm of streets and riversides. Each city page identifies a starting walk and a nearby outing, then explains how to give both enough time.
Choosing a base
The population figures on the city pages are 2025 official estimates for the whole city or municipality, not the central urban settlement. Use them as regional context, not as a ranking of which destination is “worth” visiting.
