Drina
The Drina forms where the Tara and Piva rivers meet and runs along western Serbia.
Its valley borders forests, mountain viewpoints and several reservoirs.
Plan viewpoints or a guided river activity with current water conditions.
Drina Beyond the View
Understand the place and choose the part that fits your journey.
Course and landscape
The Drina begins where the Tara and Piva join and flows north along a long part of Serbia’s western edge. Mountain gorges, reservoirs and more open river stretches create very different experiences from one segment to the next.
History, wildlife and culture
The river has shaped border settlements, fishing traditions and the landscape around Tara and Perućac. Near Bajina Bašta, viewpoints look toward wooded slopes and stretches of water altered by dams.
Ways to explore
Choose a gentle viewpoint day, an arranged boat outing on a reservoir or a guided river activity appropriate to the level and flow. Rafting and kayaking require local operators, equipment and current safety information; river conditions change.
Where to base your visit
Bajina Bašta, Tara and Perućac work as bases for different Drina outings. Confirm how far lodging is from the actual pier, viewpoint or meeting point.
